Our Story
Jambo! Rachelle filming for School Ventures in Kenya
Namaste! James filming in Nepal for Room to Read
We’re Rachelle Escaravage & James Connolly, a married couple that met in an investigative journalism class during our days at California State University Northridge (Go Matadors!). Instead of following the mostly typical path out of broadcast journalism school to a small market TV station, we decided to think bigger. Sure, we both worked in mainstream media after school, and have a lot of respect for our colleagues who are still in the profession. But we both realized our dreams fell outside of a market-size, and certainly beyond the desks we both grew so comfortable at. We were thinking globally.

Our love of advocate journalism turned into a business after we learned about social entrepreneurship. It was amazing that not only were entrepreneurs doing cool things and turning a profit, but working towards a social mission, too! We realized that there weren’t any production companies focusing exclusively on organizations - for profit or not. We saw an opportunity to provide these world-changing organizations with a useful and powerful marketing tool to help spread their message: video stories. In the age of social networking, not having a video on-line is nearly akin to not having a cell phone in your pocket. Patrons of for-profit businesses and nonprofit organizations don’t want to sludge through a website of word mire. Instead, most would rather hit ‘play’ on a YouTube video and understand exactly what you do in less than five minutes. In a nutshell, that’s exactly what we do: tell succinct, thought-provoking, and socially motivating true tales of YOUR work. What could be better to help spread your message?

We film in HD, and edit on Final Cut Pro. We also provide our clients with high resolution still photographs that we take while on location. A typical story from conception to conclusion usually takes two to three weeks.
“Don't be content in your life just to do no wrong. Be prepared every day to try and do some good.”
